| Background and tasks |

| The European Commission is currently reviewing the European List of Waste (Commission Decision 2000/532/EC). Backgrounds of the review are: |
| |
- The regular review of the List of Waste (LoW) according to the requirements of Decision 2000/532/EC on the basis of new knowledge and research results.
- The call of the “Thematic Strategy on Prevention and Recycling” for a review of the system of waste nomenclature with the purpose of simplifying and modernising waste legislation.
- The need for considering the new on Regulation (EC) 1272/2008/EC on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP Regulation)
- The need for updating the link to chemicals legislation and in particular the H-criteria and to consider the REACH regulation

| Objectives
and expected results

| Ökopol will provide assistance to the European Commission with the preparation, management and evaluation of the working group meetings. This includes among other tasks the elaboration of working papers which will serve for the preparation of the working group meetings and assessments of the impact of modifications of the LoW |
