  • 1983-89: Study of industrial engineering in Hamburg
  • 1989-90: Cooperation in regional economic studies at the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg
  • 1990-92: Employee of the Association for technological consulting and system development in Hamburg
  • 1993-94: Consultation of enterprises and elaboration of expertise as free-lance engineer in the fields of company related environmental protection, regional economy and organisational development
  • Since 1994 employee, since 1999 associate, since 2002 executive director of Ökopol.



  Environmental management in companies and public institutions:
Consultation on optimizations for single companies, implementation and further development of certifiable management systems, (EMAS, DIN / ISO 14000); implementation of systems for environmental costs and controlling. Focus for consultation: printing houses and publishing houses, metal processing companies.

Regional and global flows of material:
Development and concept elaboration for the ecological and economic evaluation of disposal options, concepts for circular flow economies.

Environmental policy and communication:
Strategic advice for enterprises, associations and administrations on topics of environmental policy and legislation, accompanying of agenda processes.

Environmental management in companies and public institutions:
Development and implementation of organisational structures and computer tools for the controlling of waste management and material flows in 18 printing houses in Lower Saxony in co-operation with the association of the printing industry in Lower Saxony (commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment of Lower Saxony, 1997-99)

Development of criteria, concepts and instruments for the integration of visions for sustainability in medium size metal processing enterprises within the scope of the project "Sustainable metal industry in Hamburg" (commissioned by the BMBF, 1998-02)

Identification and description of BAT-candidates in the German printing industry within the scope of the European BAT-Process in Seville (commissioned by the German Federal Environmental Agency, 2000-02)

Advice on the optimisation of technical - organisational processes in approx. 150 small and medium size enterprises with a focus on the printing and metal processing industry (since 1992).

Regional and global flows of material:
Comparison, based on eco-balances of different disposal options, for used oils (commissioned by the Ministry of Environment of Lower Saxony and the Refinery Dollbergen, 1996-98)

Description and evaluation of different options for the prevention and utilisation of waste fractions typical for printing houses (commissioned by the Ministry of Environment of Baden-Württemberg, 1997-98).

Environmental policy and communication:
Representation of Lower Saxonian environmental organisations in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th government commission on the prevention and utilisation of waste. (commissioned by the Lower Saxonian environmental organisations, since 1992)

Position paper on the consideration of a general framework for packaging printing enterprises in the transposition of the European VOC solvent directive into German legislation (commissioned by the Association of Paper and Cardboard Processing Industry, 2000)

Consultation of the Latvian environmental administration on the transposition and implementation of the European VOC-Solvent Directive (1999/13/EG) into national legislation (commissioned by the German Ministry of the Environment and Latvian Ministry of Environment, 2000-2002)

Consultation of the administration of Schleswig-Holstein in the elaboration of a strategy on sustainability for the whole countryland (commissioned by Ministry for Environment, Nature and Forests of Schleswig-Holstein, 2001).
