Background and tasks
Transport is a fast growing source of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In order to promote discussion and assist with the development of policies to reduce GHG emissions from transport in the medium term it is necessary to have a clear presentation of available data.
 

Tasks of this contract are inter alia the collection, integration, tabulation and presentation of available data of transport volumes and expected GHG emissions from transport using credible sources for traffic and emissions predictions for different geographical regions as well as the presentation of

 
  • key trends in comparison to the EU -20% and -30% GHG reduction targets by 2020,
  • a breakdown of the expected developments by mode and region should,
  • key figures of the share of transport related to the other major economic sectors,
  • specific figures highlighting selected important transport and climate change issues including inter alia; emissions from aviation, maritime transport, private transport in emerging economies including in Asia, urbanization in developing countries, development of infrastructure, developments in logistics and world trade etc.
 
 
Objectives and expected resluts
The subject of the service contract is to collate and integrate existing data on transport volumes and GHG emissions until 2020 and present them in common, easy to understand formats (e.g. tables, charts and graphs).
